In Roskill, you’re never far from where you need to be. The city centre, beaches, schools, shops and parks are all within easy reach. Moving here makes it easy to put yourself in the centre of everything Auckland has to offer.
But what makes Roskill special goes beyond its place on a map. This is a home for diverse cultures, strong local links and the everyday places that bring us together.
That’s why we’re helping Roskill grow for the future. Across our community, we’re building quality new homes and increasing housing choice so more people can live in this thriving part of Tāmaki Makaurau.
Our homes come in a range of sizes and styles. They include social housing and homes for sale, all designed to suit different needs and stages of life.
We’re also investing in the things that help us flourish. That means upgrades to streets, parks and public spaces, and a restored Te Auaunga Oakley Creek so nature can thrive as our growing community does the same.
Together, these improvements are creating a place that is better connected, more vibrant and ready for the future. They build on what people already love about Roskill while making room for new generations to put down roots here.
In Roskill, some of the best things to do are hidden in plain sight.
Across Puketāpapa, you'll find parks, community spaces and local treasures waiting to be explored. Spend a day at Monte Cecilia Park, browse contemporary art at Pah Homestead Gallery, or head to Waikōwhai Park Beach for fresh air and harbour views.
There are places to play, too. From BMX tracks and sports fields to reserves and walking paths, it's easy to get active or simply enjoy time outdoors.
Many of these places bring people together. They help us stay connected to our culture, our neighbours and the natural beauty that surrounds us.
Living in Roskill means all of Auckland is within easy reach.
Staying local? Shared paths link our neighbourhoods, parks and reserves, making it easy to walk or cycle to where you need to be.
In the car, State Highway 20 connects you to the airport, the west, the north and beyond. Major routes like Dominion Road make reaching the city and nearby town centres a breeze.
But life here also means having the freedom to travel without getting behind the wheel. If you prefer public transport, frequent buses make it simple to connect with the city centre and surrounding suburbs.
Learning brings people together in Roskill.
Our diverse cultures have helped shape places where young people can explore new interests, build confidence and learn from those around them.
From early learning through to high school, there are plenty of options close to home. Whānau here have the freedom to find the setting that best supports their tamariki.
For older students, further study opportunities can be found nearby too. Unitec's Mount Albert campus offers real-world learning across a wide range of subjects, helping students turn their interests into skills, qualifications and careers.
Roskill takes its name from Puketāpapa, the volcanic maunga at the heart of our community. Long before today's streets and homes, this was a place of Māori settlement, with gardens, food storage pits and a pā on its slopes.
Over time, farms replaced much of the surrounding landscape. As Auckland grew, so did Roskill. New neighbourhoods welcomed people from across Aotearoa and around the world, helping create the diverse community we know today.
The past is still part of everyday life here. You can see it in our maunga, our parks and the many cultures that continue to shape Roskill.
