Molley Green
Reserve
Hundreds of students poured into the park when Molley Green Reserve reopened. This place has always been where the community gathers, and now it protects the homes that surround it.
A space shaped for community and nature
Our much-loved Molley Green Reserve is now safer, greener, and ready for our future.
After being closed for a year for upgrades, Molley Green Reserve has been carefully redesigned to support both our people and nature.
Water that once passed through pipes can now be seen flowing freely and cleanly. And around it, we’ve created a network of new spaces and experiences for the community to enjoy. They include:
- Scenic boardwalks and viewing platforms along the awa
- A new “kick-around” greenspace for everyday play
- Upgraded paths, accessways, and surrounding streets
- A stormwater detention basin designed to manage major rain events
Our park’s new features work together to reduce flood risk while creating a place where people can share special moments.
When it reopened, Leah and Tessa took us for a tour of everything on offer at Molley Green Reserve:
A place to connect, play and grow
From growing fresh food to shooting hoops, this place has something for everyone.
Molley Green Reserve has always been important to the people here. Our upgrades build on that history and create even more ways for us to come together.
New and improved spaces support a wide range of activity. Families can explore the reserve, spend time outdoors, or gather with friends. Community events, sports, and everyday moments all have a place here.
A key feature of our park is Tā Tātou Māra Kai, our local food forest. This shared garden helps locals grow fresh food and stay connected to the land. It was so important to us that we made sure it stayed open during construction.
Today, our reserve remains a space for all ages, where people can relax, play, and feel at home.
Built for a growing community
Molley Green Reserve plays an important role in the wider Roskill Development.
New and upgraded pipes under our roads will support existing homes and the new places we build here. Molley Green Reserve forms part of that network. The park helps us improve how we handle water in Waikōwhai.
At the same time, large-scale planting and landscaping have created a greener, stronger environment. Thousands of new plants now support biodiversity and improve the health of our awa.
