The foundations for Northcote's growth are in place.

Walking around Northcote today, it's easy to see how much the neighbourhood has changed. What was once an ageing state housing area is becoming a greener, more connected community with a wider range of homes for people at different stages of life.

So far, 892 new homes have been completed, including all 480 planned social homes. That's 180 more social homes than were originally on the site. Around 300 more homes are currently under construction, with more than 1,200 market and affordable homes expected to be delivered over time.

The investment extends well beyond housing. Nearly 28,000 plants and 440 new trees have been added across the neighbourhood, creating greener streets, more shade and better spaces for people to enjoy. New and upgraded parks, including Te Ara Awataha Greenway, the Te Kāwai/Cadness Loop Reserve upgrade and Kukari pocket park, are already open for the community.
